Local SEO Scorecard: FAQs
How is the score calculated?
The checklist has 20 items, each worth 5 points. Your score is the number of items you tick multiplied by 5, up to a maximum of 100. The tool also generates actions based on the items you did not tick.
Do you store any of my data?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser and does not store inputs on our servers. If you use the share link, only a binary tick pattern is added to the URL hash so you can reopen the same state.
Do I need a Google Business Profile to score well?
It is strongly recommended for most local businesses. You can still improve on-site and citation signals without it, but a verified profile is a major local ranking signal.
Can multi-location businesses use this?
Yes. Run the scorecard per location and track results separately. Ensure each location has its own page, consistent NAP, and a distinct Google Business Profile.
Will this affect my rankings?
Using the tool does not change rankings. Acting on the tailored steps can improve eligibility for local pack visibility and organic clicks over time.
Can I embed this on my website?
Yes. Use the iframe code in the “Embed this tool” section above. Please retain attribution to Digital Hype.
What is the difference between local SEO and general SEO?
Local SEO focuses on signals that influence local pack and map results for area-based searches. General SEO focuses on broader organic rankings that are not map-pack specific.
How often should I run the scorecard?
Monthly is a good cadence. It keeps profiles fresh, catches NAP drift, and helps you maintain reviews and page quality.
What is a good score?
65–84 indicates a solid foundation, 85+ is strong. Any score can be improved by working through the missing items.
Does this replace a professional audit?
No. It is a fast self-check. For deeper technical, content, and entity analysis, consider a tailored audit.
